How to Lay vinyl flooring correctly

Before installing a vinyl floor, you must first take a close look at the nature of the sub-floor. Installation of vinyl plank flooring in flint mi is not possible on soft materials such as carpet. Therefore, in addition to the skirting board, you also have to remove the old floor covering when renovating. Unevenness can create unsightly pressure points after laying. Overall, the substrate should be smooth, dry, clean and free of any cracks or damage.

To determine the amount of material, the length of the room is multiplied by the width of the room. So that there are no bottlenecks, around 10 per cent of waste should always be expected. Radiator niches are included in the area. When choosing the boards, you should put together samples from different pallets so that a varied and therefore particularly natural pattern is created.

The vinyl should be allowed to acclimate at least 24 hours before laying. For this purpose, layout the material in the room that you want to design with the PVC material the day before installation. Ideally, the temperature in the room should be between 18 and 25 degrees when laying. The boards are aligned lengthways to the incidence of light, i.e. lengthways to the window. You should keep a distance of 3 to 10 mm from the walls. This allows the PVC to expand in the event of temperature fluctuations. You can cover the free gap with a joint after laying.

The different types of vinyl: Click, adhesive and multilayer vinyl – the different types of vinyl have different advantages and disadvantages.

The click-vinyl is the easiest and therefore under yourselfers also the most popular variant. The 4.5 to 5 mm thick vinyl planks can be integrated into your own four walls without great effort and special tools.

Multilayer vinyl is a special form of click vinyl. This variant is particularly suitable for renovations because unevenness in the substrate can be smoothed out easily with the material. As with laminate, the elastic surface is applied to a stable HDF carrier board. A sound-absorbing layer is often installed on the underside. The stable base plate means that there are no pressure points on uneven surfaces.
